Community Stitch Challenge - Week 2

Week 2 - Cas Holmes
Select an object or image as inspiration for this exercise.

I had a piece of brown paper with a gold edge to represent the gold stupas in Myanmar and was given 2 small scraps from a Buddhist monk's robe.
The Irrawaddy River is very sandy at low tide with just a hint of greenery seen in the distance.
Using these as inspiration, I sorted through my stash to find the appropriate fabrics.

I found a piece of stiff woven fabric with a green edge. The fabric reminded me of the fishermen's grass huts on the banks of the river.
An image and a piece of terracotta coloured fabric to represent the red clay temples in Bagan.
These were all simply stitched with a running stitch onto postcard size fabric 4" x 6".
