Stitch Meditations

I took a small bag of fabric scraps, 5 different threads, a previous hotel sewing kit and wanted to also use what I could find in the way of paper etc reflecting on my week.

QF 35 Melbourne to Singapore.
Cut out the symbol from the inflight magazine, background using paper towel from Business class lounge.

 5 lines of stitching to represent the 5 points of the Islamic beliefs and the Moroccan tiling, brown for the river, blue and white for the mosque. Background using paper towel.

Colours representing the Hindu temple and steps at Batu Caves, background using plastic bag from Concorde Hotel, their symbol represents the Petronas Twin Towers.

The Festival of Light, is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu). It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana.
