Day 1 cont.... A Few That Took My Eye

Artquilts and Landscapes by Romana Cerna - Czech Republic
Blue colour and more or less abstract depiction of landscape are two main inspirations of this collection. Foundation of the works is cotton or non-woven textiles Evolon. A lot of modern techniques such as lamination or burning is used.

Hands of Korea 2016
The Bojagi is becoming more popular. 80 works have been created by different Korean artists who have revisited the tradition of this expression by adding hand made dyes and painting fabric.

A few from the Belgian Patchwork Association - Belgium
and the Patchwork Gilde Deutschland e.V. - Germany

  1. A great selection of quilts, with great use of colour and repeated patterns. The T shaped one looks like it is a commentary on senseless destruction, the story behind it would be interesting.

  2. I second Jeanette's comment. The exhibition is a different perspective on quilts.

  3. There is so much amazing work there - it feels like it would be a bit overwhelming to be there. Too much to take in all at once!

  4. I love the embroidered flowers. They are so delicate in contrast to other quilts. The first quilt reminds me of hot boiling mud.
