A Day on the Road

Opened our French road map book, chose a direction west of Toulouse and went for a drive after the Airbus Museum.
Followed this Wedding car, very different to ours at home.

Our little red machine.
Passed through the village of L'Isle-Jourdain, the trash and treasure market was being held at the base of the old velodrome.
Every market has to have a sausage sizzle.
These French sausages smelled amazing.
Drove on to Cologne, a small village in the Mid-Pyrenees.
From a distance snow could be seen on the mountain range.
Beautiful timbered buildings, not sure how long they will last.

 The old market square.
 Another beautiful creeping rose.

Enjoyed lunch with a glass of wine.
Further on came across the town of Auch.
A small market town west of Toulouse on the river Gers.
Turned the other direction and saw......
 ....this site.
Cathedral of Sainte Marie.
UNESCO "Worldwide Cultural Heritage on the roads to Compostella".
374 stone steps leading up to the Cathedral.
The statue of d'Artagnan, 17th century Kings Guard immortalised in Alexandre Dumas', "the Three Musketeers"

  1. So many interesting textures on the half timber buildings. Trust a cat to find the sunny ledge.

  2. So did you climb the 374 steps?

  3. I have photos of the amazing carvings in the cathedral.

  4. A wonderful cathedral. And so many different types of structures.
