Photo Sand Exhibition, Fitzroy

Melbourne photographer Emma McEvoy's photography exhibition "Sand Castles", a southern Namibian ghost town, Kolmanskop, which was a former German mining outpost, abandoned in the 1950's.
The town is slowly being covered by the sand dunes and within 10 years will no longer be visible.
To portray her photos, Emma found a Fitzroy house that is to be demolished within days and filled it with 9 tonnes of sand. Fascinating photos. The exhibition finished this afternoon.

  1. An intriguing exhibition as are your photographs. The sixth one of the doorways is particularly haunting with just the shadow of someone about to enter.

  2. Emma put as much thought into her display as her photography. Including sand in the house enhanced the emotion of the photos.
