National Gallery of Victoria

Today, I had to make a trip into the city to deliver Victorian State Rose Garden brochures to Fed Square Tourism.
Had some time to fill in, so popped into the NGV to see what was being exhibited.
Recognising excellence in contemporary Australian Design, this award is the highest accolade for object and furniture design in Australia.

 Pleasure and Reality

This exhibition was of painted AFL pottery.
The children were given cardboard pots to paint and decorate in their favourite AFL football colours and teams.

Whenever we go to the bottle shop (John is a collector of wines), I always pick a wine with an interesting label. I find the design of the labels fascinating, more than the wine itself.
Liked this one.

Botanical Gardens - Melbourne

Our annual Rose Garden community bus trip, took us today to the Botanical Gardens.
Majority on the bus had not been to the gardens for approx 10 years.
A beautiful sunny day, we sat for a while by the lake soaking it up.
I decided not to take note of names of the plants etc, just look for colour, texture and scenery.

New Background Help

Does anyone out there know how to change the background of a blog to something else?
I would like to change the pattern but can't bring anything up.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Sketchbook Covering

Getting ready for our holiday, I have decided to take a sketchbook with me for the 4 weeks.
A technique learnt from Lucy Worsley.
Pin a photocopy of a photo to the reverse side of fabric.
Stitch over the outline of the photocopy and when turned over,
the outlined picture is on the right side.
 A French lamp post.
I don't know how much I will get done over the time.
Will give it a go, though I am not the best free hand drawer.

Colours of Sydney

Also at The Powerhouse was a fantastic jewelry exhibition.
The piece on the left was made of bottle caps.

 Hair pins.
This necklace from made from a tape measure.
There were also pieces from the 1800's but I loved the latest modern jewelry.
Overall there were a few hundred on display/
Saturday night, let my Japanese dinner go cold watching this hotel change colour.

This morning before we headed to the airport at lunchtime, walked through Hyde Park to The Australian Museum to see the "Wildlife Photography of the Year" exhibition.
Brilliant, especially the photos take by the Under 10 yr  and 10-15 years old.
They outshone the adult photographers and winners.
Home in time to see the last half of of the North Melb/Richmond game.
