Fabric Frolic Surprise

This morning at 6.15 am, coming off the Westgate Bridge on the way to Emma's.
5 balloons were ascending from Williamstown.
We finished her retaining wall at lunchtime after shifting 2m of soil.
All that is left to do, is get rid of a couple of meters of dirt into a skip, our neighbour picking up old railway sleepers and a new lawn.

Came home this afternoon to a message on the answering machine.....
.....I had won the shop's 3rd prize from,
The Quilters Patch
9/3 Tuck Street
I went on the Fabric Frolic Bus Shop hop.

Beautiful Melbourne

Popped into the city to see the Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV)
Should have bought my ticket online as from the ticket counter to the entrance of the exhibition there was approx. a 2 hour wait in line. Decided to give it a miss.
Perhaps someone could tell me what these are and what they refer to??
Look like tails of some sort protruding from the Hamer Hall.
A beautiful day looking over the Yarra River from the Princes Bridge.
Came home to making up a few more blocks.

Block Piecing

Have started piecing the blocks together.
There are a few that I haven't done as they are to be made up of fabric used throughout the quilt. As I am using up scraps in my stash, will wait until I have finished the majority and tie them in.
Each night I cut out a block and put it in a cellophane bag, I can then piece several during the day.

I've Been Shoveling Dirt!!!

The things you do for your kids.
Emma's backyard retaining wall was rotting, so we decided to help her replace it.
We spent the last 3 days shoveling dirt into the skip, I found muscles I didn't know existed.
When my husband builds things, he doesn't do it by halves.
Alcove for a small set of stairs.
Emma would love to get her new dog at the end of the year, an Australian Bulldog.
She has a beautiful shady tree in the corner where the wall will be built around the new kennel.
New paving, side fences and lawn are also on the to do list. Hopefully not by her father.
The new wall is double the height of the old one.
Next job is to continue taking down the dead tree.

It's Hot, but it is Summer

New Years Day we went off to see The Imitation Game at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville.
Brilliant movie. In the Davis theatre the light above, spiked the interest as a quilt pattern.
I think the movies will be busy these 2 days with the heat.
Hand pieced some more stars under the air con with the TV on.
How much of the Die Hard marathon can one watch???
Sat through 1 and 2, No. 3 is on now, decided to cut out the next block for my Lori Smith quilt.
Have my little air con on in my sewing room.
Blocks 2 and 3 made up.
