Itsukushima Shrine, first built in the latter half of the 6th century, stands in the sea.
We visited it at low tide.
Displays the beauty of the Shinden style.
Road barriers with a sense of humour.
Across to the island by ferry, smooth  sailing.

O-Torii (grand Gate), the symbol of Miyajima.

 Itsukushima Shrine.

Toyokuni Shrine and the Five-Storied Pagoda.
The shrine is a library of Buddhist sutras.
The pagoda, 28m high, built in 1407.
 Beautiful lanterns.
These 2 ladies asked to be taken back to the mainland...he tried to explain that you have to go by ferry if you want to stay dry!!!
