Quilt Tiled Pattern

Attended our CBD Squilters GTG yesterday in the city.
It was lovely to catch up with everyone as I hadn't been for a while.
Looked up...and noticed the tiling on the old Tramways building in Burke Street.
When I was employed at the MMBW, after leaving high school,
I worked in this building for a few months relieving a girl on sick leave.
I didn't look up and notice the outside until now.
It is interesting what you see, now that patchwork is a part of my life.

5,000 Poppy Project

Another ball of wool has knitted 18 more poppies.
The total of the project has exceeded the 5,000, they are now close to 8,000 poppies.

Federation Star Paving

This reminds me of my Grandparent's porch at Manly in Sydney.
As a child I was fascinated by it, perhaps it was the start of my love for patchwork.
In the city, it is interesting all the patchwork tiling that is above and around the buildings.

White Night Melbourne

We braved the 400,000 + crowd of Melbourne to view the White Night.
We walked, or should I say we shuffled through the many exhibitions.
We stepped into churches in Collins Street for exhibitions of Tim Winton, the Town Hall for beautiful children's choir, sat and listened to Rachmaninoff , without a piano player at the Concert Hall.
We set off on the journey of Illuminations at 7pm and finished at 12.30am.
So pleased we booked a room in the city for the night.
 Flinders Lane, Illuminations
 Bank of Melbourne, Collins Street.

 Flinders Street Station

View of the Yarra River from Princes Bridge overlooking Southbank
Tattoos adorned the outside walls of the NGV.
Sat on the benches outside and enjoyed a glass of white wine.

Bedford Mystery Quilt

A parcel arrived this morning containing the Bedford Mystery Quilt.
Exciting - as this is my first time doing it.
As noted inside, unable to show you any of the fabric, pattern etc
as many will not be receiving theirs until May - June.
I love that I don't have to cut out any of the fabric, already done.

NASA Star for Houston

My star for posting to the Houston Quilt Festival for the request of Karen Nyberg - Quilting in Space.
I had trouble finding a pattern for a 9 1/2 inch star.
Saw one I liked and redrew it to fit......or so I thought I did.
So much so for my drafting days when I was working after leaving high school.
It came out at 9 inches, had to sew a border on to it, made a 10 inch block,
they can cut it down when they receive it.

"The heavens opened at 5pm...."
After a long summer without rain, it came down faster than the tank could cope with.
A minute later it was full and overflowing, the quickest fill in a long time.
Fingers crossed, the areas that need it most, got the same down pour.

"Longbourne" Revisited

I had put away my Longbourne quilt before we went overseas in October last year.
I have 1 1/2 borders to finish machine quilting and it is done, then the binding etc.
Bought it out of hibernation today and machine quilted for about 15 minutes.
Determined to do a bit each day and before I know it, all finished.

Medallion Quilt border 4

When we had our old pergola replaced last year, I asked for a wall where the clothes line would be under cover and protected for winter drying as I don't have a tumble drier.
Great size wall for hanging quilts to photograph, magnets aren't strong enough, used wide packaging tape.
Border No 4 now finished.
Itching to finish this quilt, have already picked out an new pattern.

A Day of Cutting

Spent Friday cutting out the next border. One more border to go after this one.
Will spend today drawing the 1/4 inch lines for hand piecing.
Spent Saturday at Wyndham Quilters, pieced 2 stars and 4 to go.
Have been given the go ahead to use the foot pedal of my machine, "about time".
Looking forward to some machine sewing. Will make the NASA star on the machine.

One Hour Makes a Difference

Woke up this morning to fog.
The moisture from the roof dripped into the water tanks.
1 hour later and it was gone.
They always say, it is suppose to be a sunny day after fog.
