Dear Hannah - Next Stage

The hand piecing is done and it is now ready to be basted,
DH took the top off the outdoor table and moved it into the garage for me.
He kept the doors off the wardrobes after we replaced them with sliding doors.
He said "you never know what we might need them for"

Well, he was right, the 6 doors make a great table top for basting my quilts. No need to get onto the floor any more.
The garage was carpeted years ago with horrible green carpet squares that his work was throwing out. It is easier to stand on than the concrete floor.
Off to a quilting retreat for the weekend, so had better get a move on with the basting, or I won't have anything to do.

It is interesting what you can get done when your team is not playing in the Grand Final.

Dear Hannah

3rd corner triangle nearly finished, foundation pieced it with fine tissue paper.
1 to go - about time!!!!
Hope to have them all done and sewn, ready to baste at the Retreat I am off to next weekend.

I must be blind.......

"I honestly don't know how people can exist without friendship. People to share their secrets, hopes and dreams. Also people who will share humiliation, shame and loss.... Friendship need have nothing to do with coming from the same background and sharing all the same interests. A friendship can grow on the most unlikely and barren ground.: - Mauve Binchey

It's funny how you think you know people.
Yet it takes others to point it out to you.
Life is so short, treasure your friends.

My Garden

Waiting for my yellow and mauve iris' to bud and flower. The freesias have gone beserk.
I am amazed at the new re-growth of the plants in my front garden.
I have new dark green/burgundy foliage on my roses and this time last year there wasn't much to talk of with the ground covers.
Thanks to all the rain we have had, the plants are thriving. Just hope we don't get another hot summer like last year.
I would love to plant a magnolia in the front lawn, not sure how it would look with the olive tree already there.

Made 2 Spring Postcards for a swap.
I love the colours at this time of the year, and especially the smell of my masses of freesias.

Breakfast before the Quilt In.

Yesterday morning I enjoyed breakfast with 3 of my friends, Sue, Sophia and Alison.
We were going to the Wyndham Quilt In in Hoppers Crossing, so asked them along to start the day off at my place.
The Quilt In was a great day, as it always is. Karen Styles from Somerset Patchwork, Mt Waverley was guest speaker. Karen showed us her beautiful quilts made predominantly of Civil War fabric with the patterns of stars. She also spoke of her journey in the Quilt World
A good day was had by all but best of all, it was spent with friends.
