European Patchwork Meeting
Sainte-Marie-Aux-Mines, France
Despite coming from 43 degree heat in Morocco to 18 degrees and rain, a wonderful time was spent catching the shuttle bus to each of the villages for the quilt exhibitions.
This Meeting was fascinating with the exhibitions held in the local buildings, theatres and churches.
Christine and I saw each and everyone of them over the 3 days plus some retail therapy in the shops.
I bought a little pack of French and Liberty fabric, which I used in my piece.
The free shuttle bus ran to a timetable of every 15 minutes to the heart of each village approx 15-20 minutes drive from each other.
Everyone was friendly, stopped for chats when they knew were were Australian and made the effort to speak English to us.
I have been very fortunate to attend several international Quilt Festivals and I would put this towards the top of the list.

  1. I am always amazed at the number of Exhibitions, shops, Festivals and other textile based places that you have been able to co-ordinate within your travels.

  3. Great way to lay out the page showing the different villages involved in the festival. And your stitching screams France.
