Travel Journal 7 and SM4

30 May, 2017, drove from Tours to Bayeaux to visit the Tapestry.
A pretty little town with hanging baskets adorning the street lamps filled with Spring flowers.
I wasn't sure what to expect from the exhibition, it was excellent and one that I will always remember.
 8 different coloured yarns used.
Biscuit coloured background.
Outlines in stem stitch with the flat sections in blanket-stitch.
70 m long x 50 cm high.

SM 4 - Spent the day watching the cricket, Aussies vs The Poms at the SCG.

  1. It is interesting that the stitched history of William's invasion includes the visitation in 1066 of Halley's Comet.

The cricket has influenced today's stitching meditation. Howzat!

  2. It must have been fantastic to see it in person. Unfortunately I have not been so lucky - yet, but wonder about the stitches...
As far as I know, there is no Blanket Stitch in the tapestry. The flat sections are filled in with Bayeux Stitch, a kind of couching stitch. The official site describes it here: http://www.bayeuxmuseum.com/en/une_uvre_textile_en.html
