The Mountains

Today was a little disappointing, our itinerary did not eventuate as planned. Life as a Berber with their tents, learning embroidery, baking bread etc, did not come about, only cooking another tagine.
Even though the day didn't go to plan, the 2 hour drive through and up the mountains was spectacular.

The tagine fires getting ready for cooking.
Our host for the day.
Deep in the Atlas mountains, the ancient Berbers live on, defying a harsh environment and remaining loyal to their traditions and way of life. They live in some of the most hard to reach parts of the African continent.

Pattern on the leather couch.
Our terrace overlooking the mountains.
On the way back we stopped at the Berber Bazaar.

Not a lot to post today.

  1. Loved the colour of the pots in the third last photo. There is beauty in the crafts everywhere. A shame you were unable to experience the Berber life.

  2. Lots to look at in your beautiful photos, even if you don't have much to say!

  3. I hope the food tasted good. The shopping stalls looked interesting. More patterns - great. I love that you always find the positives of your days adventures.

  4. It's all so different and sort of overwhelming.

  5. Pity about the embroidery coming to nothing.

  6. For those of us enjoying your photos, it seems like plenty.

  7. Great photos. All the colours and patterns are great

  8. Stunning scenery. I worked with a Berber once, he was a larger than life character.
