Moroccan Pottery

The clumps of clay are soaked in the water for 5 days to become pliable for the wheel.
This potter was not even looking at what he was doing, he has made thousands of pieces.

Decoration of the pieces are done with stencils.

 One of the kilns.
These 2 workers are chipping tiles into various shapes and sizes for mosaic.

A mosaic table top being put together. They work from the reverse side, when he is happy that pattern by hand is correct, cement glue is added to the back. When dry the table top is turned over and fingers crossed all is ok.

Don't think this will fit or suit the vanity in our new bathroom.
The colours the company use to dye their tiles.

  1. There is a lot of hard dirty work behind these beautiful pieces.

  2. Wow! One of those mosaic fountains would be nice, but a bit heavy to bring back in a suitcase.
