Fireplaces and Tapestries

Cadiallac Chateau, passed to distant, indirect relatives, The Preissac family, who restored and updated the Chateau before abandoning it to plunder during the Revolution.
The Chateau  was acquired by the state and became a women's prison  in 1818, then closed in 1890, when the building became a prison and remand centre for "fallen girls" until 1952.
Every room has a magnificent fireplace and the walls are adorned with tapestries.

  2. Despite the magnificence of the fireplaces the rooms seem to echo the sadness of the past.
