Leaving Their Nest
Came out the back door this morning to find the 2 babies have left the nest.
We think this is their first outing away from home.
Look like common starlings.
Hope the twins do well and are safe.

Christmas is Coming to Melbourne
Walking down Swanston Street this afternoon, noticed the yarn bombing, as workers were getting the Christmas decorations ready in the City Square.
They were decorated and knitted by "Yarn Corner",
"covering the town in yarn, one stitch at a time".
The Myer windows are open for inspection with many lined up to see them.
The city is slowly being dressed for the Christmas season.

Finished another piece of Sashiko.
Think I will use it as a hand cloth to keep in my hand bag.
I bought the coffee coloured thread in Takyama,
not the usual colour used for this type of work.
Nice change to the blue and white.

"Among the Trees" Postcard
The textile internet group I belong to, were asked to make a postcard for a swap.
I hunted among my dried tea bag papers and Japanese tissue paper.
I had a photo of a sunset taken high above the city of Koblenz, Germany.
I loved the sun going down among the trees from the fortress.

My Plants are Alive
I was pleased to come home to my hanging pots of Impatiens outside the kitchen and see that they had thrived while away despite cutting them back severely.
Maiden Hair ferns have to be watered daily so I didn't hold out much hope.
Have planted Impatiens to match the hanging pots.
We have peaches on the tree and spent the day last week deadheading my roses.
The barrels are empty and the other 3 tanks need topping up.
"Please Rain", the whole state needs rain.
Was very surprised the plants under the pergola survived,
Emma came down each weekend to give them a drink. Thank you.
We have tiny mandarins on the dwarf tree, first time.
We spent the day today, tidying the vegie garden and planting ready for summer.
The nets are over the seedlings, to deter the birds from scratching the straw.
Harvested approx 150 red, white and brown onions.
Tomatoes, zucchini, carrot, radishes, snow peas, capsicum,
eggplant, peas, lettuce, rocket, basil, coriander, cucumber and spring onions are in.
The shade sails will go up after Christmas, think it is going to be a hot summer.
My rhubarb needs dividing, but every time I think about doing it, it is the wrong time of year.

We Have a Visitor
Opened the back door at the laundry to a mess all over the small porch and steps.
Seems we have had a visitor renting the space on my clothes drier hanging on the wall.
Not sure if this is mum or a "nearly ready to leave the nest" baby.
Home and Thank You
John and I arrived home yesterday.
Home to the news of Paris. So very sad.
Landing on home soil, where we feel safe, but you just don't know what is around the corner.
We met amazing people on route and will continue to see our beautiful world as life is so short.
Thank you for following our trip, we hope you enjoyed coming along with us.
Till the next time......
