This narrow street is home to the olden day Geishas.
These are tea houses that they served in.
Geishas start at the age of 16 and live the life of a nun. They do not have partners or boyfriends, they train each day with classes of deportment, how to prepare and pour tea, dance, make up/hair etc.
A geisha does not wear the combs with the flowers hanging off them in their hair.
Their white make up is because in olden days they had to put it on with the aid of candlelight.
A photo must always be taken of the back of a geisha not front on.
Their role is to accompany, serve and entertain.
