Summer Beach Balls

How appropriate for a day of 35 degrees C.
Beach balls hanging in Melbourne Central.
oops.. I meant Australia on Collins!!
Today we met in the CBD for our Scquilters group.
It wasn't that hot, I was surprised at the cool breeze blowing down Collins Street.

The letter R - Scatterdays

 Mammal - RHINO
Werribee Open Range Zoo.
For my birthday, one year, my family gave me an overnight tent stay at the zoo. Amazing!!

 Transport - RED FERRARI
My brother told me when I was a little girl, that if you paint your car RED, it goes faster.
I would love to do a few laps at the F1 Grand Prix in one of these.

 Technology - RESISTORS
Technology and Electronics go hand in hand, you can't have one without the other.
Our daughter is an Electronic Biomedical Engineer, I laughed when she told me she googled "how to boil an egg".

Red from my sewing room - RED THREAD
I don't use red very often, it is not my colour.

Early Scatterday

I have posted my Scatterdays early as I am out for the day  tomorrow morning, very early and won't be home till quite late.

Fabric Frolic

The annual Fabric Frolic started today with 7 shops participating.
I decided to do the 3 bayside shops today and the eastern side shops next Friday with my friend Sue.
The time I left home and returned it only took me 3 1/2 hours.
A lovely way to spend the afternoon with some retail therapy.

Shop 1, the furthermost away was Palm Beach Quilting at Carrum Downs.
Only 50 minutes drive from home down the freeway, decided to start here first.

Shop 2, The Quilters Patch, Moorabbin.
With your purchases, they gave out a discount voucher for the cake shop around the corner.
Best sandwich and Latte I have had in a while. I was good, didn't buy a Neenish Tart!!!

Shop 3, Amitie, Gardenvale
Couldn't resist buying a pattern.

Bush Rockpool ATC

I had to whip up an ATC for a swap.
Our theme for January was "as you like it".
I found this piece of stenciled fabric in a drawer that I had made in a class at Houston.
Also found a piece of circular pattern tissue paper.
Put my cut-out window over it, found something I liked, machined some leaves and lines over the tissue paper.
15 minutes later, had my ATC to post off to my swap partner.

It's Time to Let Go.

I have decided to take this pile of quilts to the Salvos this morning.
They are challenge pieces, small ones, wall-hangings, faded lap quilts and not looked at in the last 10 years after being stored at the bottom of a cabinet.
Dating from 1978 - 1996.
I considered 2 of them for the Tasmania Donations, but I would rather make some new fresh quilts instead.

Scatterdays - Wine

I had an email re the Grange Wine I put on for " Scatterdays", about how expensive and lucky that my husband had 2 bottles.
I bought one bottle as a gift for him, 7 years ago and he bought the other as an investment.
His comment was " the amount of fabric etc that I had bought over the last 30 years of my quilting hobby, would have bought many bottles of Grange".
So..... I guess I shouldn't complain about how much we paid for his 2 precious bottles.
Fingers crossed that IF he decides to open one of them, it doesn't taste like vinegar!!!!

365 Days of Photos

A man was interviewed on the Today Show on Monday re his challenge for photographing 2013.
I have decided to take up the challenge also by posting on my other blog "365 Days of Photos".
Each day a photo is to be taken.
I realise that some days, they may take a couple of days to post and it will be certainly be a challenge to find something worth photographing.
But I will give it a go.
