Daffodil Day

I noticed on the corner across from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Hospital, this tree surrounded by daffodils. Daffodil Day, Friday 24 August, is a day for raising money for the Cancer Council. A closer look at them, revealed that they were knitted. A tag on some of them noted Knight Knitters. I looked them up but couldn't find any information about these knitters.

A Little Quilt

My friend Sue bought me back from Houston a "Little Bits" tissue pattern called "Roman Stripes". I decided to use up my Civil War and Reproduction scraps. I foundation hand pieced and then decided to make up the flying geese pattern out of tissue paper. Size 33 inches square.
Dh looked at it, knowing how I have a passion for planes, said "which one is the Qantas tail?".
It is a bit wonky as I have yet to press it, and don't want to stretch the flying geese too much.

Afternoon Tea

For Mothers Day my daughter gave me vouchers for Afternoon Tea at the Windsor Hotel. She took me last Sunday. Upon sitting down to crisp white linen tablecloths and serviettes, we were given a cake stand of Windsor scones, jam and cream, beautiful ribbon sandwiches and a selection of miniature savoury pastries. A glass of Brut accompanied the cake stand.
The buffet table was laden with amazing slices, tarts, cakes and pastries with a flowing chocolate tower for fresh fruit and marshmallows to be dipped in. There were selections of teas and we chose to drink silver teapots of "Cleopatra's Champagne" tea. It was a blend of Rose Petals, Lavender and Rosemary. Very refreshing and soothing on the stomach after the feast!!!
It was a lovely mother and daughter afternoon. To top it off, the pianist in the foyer played my favourite piece of music, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow".

The Elephants have come to Town.

We currently have many statues of Elephants around Melbourne to celebrate the birthday of Mali, our baby elephant at the Melbourne Zoo. Spotted these 4 yesterday and so far they are my favourites. They have been painted by artists, but due to the heavens about to open up, I didn't get time to take note of them.
Five minutes later, the hail and rain came and I made a dash for the Station.
